Hamdan Akram is the Founder, Chairman and Group Chief Executive of Hamdan Holdings. He established the group in 2002 with a single enterprise technology business and has, over more than two decades, built it into a diversified investment and operating group of eight subsidiaries spanning technology, digital health, professional services, travel and property development across ASEAN, the GCC and South Asia.
His operating philosophy is direct: turn cybersecurity, data protection and AI from constraints into compounding advantages, and build companies that endure. Every business in the group is run with long-horizon ownership, rigorous governance and a technology-first operating model. He chairs the group's investment, audit, risk and information security committees, and serves on the board of every operating subsidiary, with direct oversight of capital allocation, strategy and executive succession.
Hamdan Akram brings a rare combination of technical and executive depth. He is an AI and Cybersecurity Strategist, a Microsoft Certified Solution Architect, an Advanced AI Architect and Azure Data Scientist, who designs and runs secure, intelligent platforms for enterprise clients in healthcare, finance, retail and travel. As an executive, he has held and continues to hold senior Chief Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer mandates at regulated enterprises, embedding ISO 27001, ISO 27701, NIST CSF, COBIT and Malaysia PDPA discipline into the group's operating playbook.
He is also an HRD Corp Accredited Trainer (TTT-certified) and leads the group's training arm, SOFTNET Technology Park, where he designs and delivers HRDC-claimable executive programmes on AI, cybersecurity, data governance and digital transformation for boards, regulators and senior operators across the region.
Academically, he holds a PhD in Data Sciences, a Master's in Marketing and Mass Communications, and a Bachelor's in Computer Sciences. His professional credentials include the full ISACA leadership stack: CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT and CDPSE, alongside the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Project Management Professional (PMP), AI Generalist and the complete Microsoft certification stack, with additional Cisco network credentials. The combination of disciplines, from engineering and data sciences through marketing, security and project delivery, underpins how the group reads markets, manages risk and brings ventures to scale.
Beyond the group, Hamdan is an active voice on AI governance, cyber resilience and the maturation of South-East Asia's digital ecosystems, with a professional network of more than 10,000 followers on LinkedIn. He mentors technology founders, advises on regulatory and board-level information security matters, and invests selectively in early-stage businesses where operating partnership creates more value than passive capital.
